B12 questions
Quick answers, so you can book with confidence.
Common questions about B12 injections at Bristol Independent Clinic. Anything else, call 0117 974 1348.
How quickly will I feel different?
Many people notice improved energy and focus within 24–72 hours, although some take a few weeks. If you have a confirmed deficiency, a course of injections is usually needed to feel a sustained difference.
Do I need a blood test first?
Not always. A Pharmacist Independent Prescriber will discuss your symptoms, diet and medical history before the injection. We can also arrange a private B12 blood test if your case suggests it would be useful. Booster injections do not require testing first.
Will the injection hurt?
B12 is given as a small intramuscular injection into the upper arm. Most people describe it as a brief pinch followed by mild soreness at the site for a day or two. The whole appointment takes around 15 minutes.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. B12 injections follow a short consultation, so all visits are booked. Same-day appointments are usually available with at least two hours' notice.
Are B12 injections suitable for everyone?
No. Treatment is always subject to clinical assessment. Some people may need a blood test, further investigation or GP care, or a different form of support. Your Pharmacist Independent Prescriber will only proceed where it is clinically appropriate.
